California Gives Sign Of Approval For Licensed Home Cannabis Deliveries Statewide

California’s State Bureau of Cannabis Control released a rule this week allowing for statewide marijuana deliveries, supposedly even into areas that do not permit pot sales.

The rule has pushback from law enforcement and others, who believe that it may lead to hidden pot transactions and it may also undercut control by cities and counties.

On the other side, companies and consumers welcome the rule, especially where there are areas within the state that do not permit pot activity and have released rules banning sales. According to Alex Traverso, a spokesman for the Bureau of Cannabis, “The public spoke loud and clear in favor of statewide delivery.”

The purpose of the rule was to provide clarification concerning conflicting regulations and laws bout marijuana deliveries. The law, called Proposition 64, was approved in 2016 by voters. This allowed for legal pot sales to adults. However, local governments determined that they would ban sales, unless for medical use.

The League of California came out in opposition of the rule, identifying that it takes away from local control. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.
